Remember how in last week's newsletter we said that the unemployment rate among 23 to 27 year olds is 4.59%?

Well that number happens to be even worse for 16 to 24 year olds...10.5%!

While that's happening, a high-frequency trading firm by the name of XTX Markets just posted a job opening for an AI Research Intern with a salary of $35,000 per month ($420,000 per year).

The duality of the job market is in full display.

🔮 Polymarket, the world's biggest prediction market, will launch in the U.S. after being granted CFTC approval. The platform will have to compete with Kalshi, another prediction market that has already been operating in the U.S. since July 2021.

🗃️ Klarna, Figure, and Gemini filed for U.S. IPOs. All three are going public next week, but not all are profitable. Btw, if you request pre-IPO shares, you can't sell for 30 days or more. Otherwise, you'll be blocked from participating in IPOs for 60 days.

😰 American Dream Crumbles as Only 25% Believe Hard Work Improves Living Standards. This sounds about right. Wages haven't kept up with living expenses since the 70's and home ownership is out of reach for most young people.

📉 Over the past 45 years, September has been the only month when the S&P 500 Index has averaged a loss. If your portfolio takes a hit this month, don't panic. Ride it out and trust the process (buy and hold).

💼 Private employers added a measly 54,000 jobs in August, far below expectations of 75,000. At this point, a rate cut is definitely coming. And it might even be 50 basis points (0.5%). Let's hope the Fed doesn't overdo it, though. Otherwise, a dozen eggs will end up costing an arm and a leg.
