Economic Reports
โ
๐ First-quarter GDP contracted by 0.5%. GDP is basically a measure of economic activity, and since this value went down, it means less financial transactions happened. Could be bad for the stock market if the trend continues. Less economic activity = less earnings = stock goes down. โ

โ
๐ฉ๏ธ Durable-goods orders posted their biggest gain in 11 years. (FYI durable goods are tangible items that are not consumed quickly and are expected to last for at least 3 years). The bump was mostly caused by Boeing signing a deal to sell 303 planes (160 ordered by Qatar Airways). โ
Market Impact: โ๏ธ Bullish
โ
โ
โ
๐ณConsumer spending fell 0.1% for the month and personal income declined 0.4%. Spending met analyst expectations but decrease in personal income hasn't happened since 2021. Worrisome indicator for sure, but only problematic if trend continues, similarly to GDP contraction. Less personal income = less spending = less earnings = stocks go down. โ

โ
Profile: Unmanned aerial vehicles company. IPO'd in January 2007. Market cap of $12.71B. Last closed at $276.67/share.

โ
Risk/Opportunity: The company relies heavily on US government contracts (75% of total revenue), but it does have a strong record of bookings ($1.2B for FY25) and backlog ($726M).
โ
The Verdict: Strong fundamentals and positive momentum in the long and short term. Great opportunity to ride the uptrend ๐โโ๏ธ.

โ
๐ Moderate Impact | Nuclear Reactor in NY โข๏ธ
Investor Impact: Nuclear power plants take a while to build, but the return on investment is worth it. Nuclear has higher energy density than solar, wind, fossil fuels, and even hydrogen. Bullish for energy companies like Oklo and Constellation Energy. Bearish for solar energy companies as national attention drifts from solar to nuclear.

โ
๐ Watchlist | Project Crystal Land ๐ฎ
โ
Background: Softbank founder Masayoshi Son pitched the idea of building a giant AI and manufacturing industrial hub in Arizona to Trump, TSMC, and Samsung. Total costs of this project could reach $1 trillion.
โ
Investor Impact: This proposal is still in the planning phase, so don't expect any traction in the near term. However, the tech arms race with China is only picking up speed and the only way to win is to out-spend the competition. Bullish for Softbank, TSMC, and Samsung if the deal goes through.
